I have just checked out a website called Afrigator which works more or less like feed burner it's way cool.
My day has started well is like 8.30 in the morning I know all you chaps in the states are still in slumber land, right now am at work. I am an intern at a multinational called Unilever when it is a very great company to work for.
I am sure that my first post on Vox was not what I would call me in my right thinking mind but I think I was pissed off with Dr Watson. I hope you checked out his comments on BBC and heard what he had to say.
Enough about that I can truly say I am enjoying blogging with Vox and I don’t think I will stop any time soon.
Isn’t black like a darker shade of white
And white a lighter version of black
Or is black a stain on white
And white a lack
Of something
A colour of emptiness
That thing whose hollowness
Dins like a market racket
Like black when in its fullness
Is like a congested packet
Isn’t black, white
Dr James Watson being the eminent scientist that he is made remarks which I consider to be fallacious to say the least. In trying to offer an insight, (a solution maybe!) to Africa’s ills he says that there is no evidence that African intelligence levels are at the same levels as their Caucasian counterparts. Therefore he reckons to uplift their economic standards; programmes should be thought out taking into consideration the low IQ levels.
I am of the opinion that this is contemptuous of him. To try and peddle the notion of white supremacy in this day and age is saddening. There isn’t any concrete evidence to prove it. This is a fact that I know, he knows and everybody knows. But to have an eminent scientist use his standing in society to try and influence people otherwise is an abuse to all progressive Africans and non white human beings in the world.
It is sad that this trend has continued to exist amongst people who should know better. I dare say that Dr Watson is nostalgic about the past when the white man’s word was gospel and black were non citizens whose only existence was to serve the white man. Days when Africa was but a resource appendage of the whites, to be partitioned and milked dry of resources and to hell with the people who happened to live there.
Examples abound world wide of Africans excelling not due to tokenism as is the practice in the west but due to intellect. Corporations and world bodies are headed by Africans, African-American music sells globally, and the examples are endless.
Africa economies have failed to take off because of policies forced on them by the Bretton Woods institutions (western controlled institutions); policies which they dare not practice at home. The SAPs (Structural Adjustment Programmes) espoused by The World Bank and IMF in the late 80s and early 90s have been recognised as failures. These are programmes designed to subjugated economies and bond them with debts. For all the aid given to Africa, it repays nearly two fold that amount.
It is not wrong to say that Africa has been under developed by the west.
Dr Watson better talk to Nelson Mandela, Kofi Annan, Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, Wangari Maathai and the Africans on the street daily trying to make ends meet then tell us who is dumb and who is dumber?
